Mike O'Regan gives us his fencing life
story: I Started fencing at the age of 31 (now 37) after
Paul Lowen was drumming up support at Ealing Rugby Club (hitherto my only
sport) -but rapidly got bored with foil, as it is too fiddly, so I took up
sabre. A couple of years ago I started competing in
national 'open' competitions, in 1998 rising to the giddy heights of 105
in the national rankings. Also I have been selected on 3
occasions for the Middlesex county team - if I can achieve this at my age
then anyone can! I am also club treasurer - a post I took
up only a year or so after joining the club; discovering that new people
are always very welcome to get involved in its running. |
